Christmas 2010

With Love Chartreuse Christmas 5x7 folded card
Make a statement with custom Christmas cards at Shutterfly.
View the entire collection of cards.

I had included an explanation as to why I chose this card, but for some reason, it never showed up.  But this is the final card I decided on for this year.  The amount of pictures on the front was perfect and the quote from "What a wonderful World" was exactly what it needed.  The IZ version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" includes that song and it always holds a special place in my heart especially this time of year.  Can't wait to get them all addressed and sent out.  Thanks again Shutterfly for this promo!!

Don't look so shocked

I know I know two posts in one day.  Shocker!!!  But this is my favorite time of the year after all.  Not only do all of my favorite holidays decorations come out, but it seems everyone is having a good sale or in this case, giveaway, everyday!!  Today's giveaway just happens to be one that I did last year too.  Didn't win it, but hey can't hurt to try again this year :)  So here we go!!

Mama’s Holiday Wish List Meme

TodaysMama and GameStop are giving away a sleighful of gifts this holiday season and to enter I’m sharing this meme with you.

1. What is your holiday wish for your family?  Just for us all to be healthy, happy and together.
2. What is your Christmas morning tradition?  Mad chaotic scramble for the prime piece of floor in which to open your gifts.  Then the argument over who is going to be the one to give out the gifts begins.  After all the gifts are open, we have our homemade cinnamon rolls and coffee/juice and I sit and soak it all in.
3. If you could ask Santa for one, completely decadent wish for yourself, what would it be? enough money to purchase all of the photo equipment I need to get my photography business off the ground

4. How do you make the holidays special without spending any money? We all just spend as much time together as possible doing whatever we can get out and do.  Being here on the island its much easier to get out and enjoy this place without any restraints of the weather, minus a shower or two.
5. What games did you play with your family growing up?  We were big on all board games.  Life, Monopoly, Battleship, we'd play them all for hours.
6. What holiday tradition have you carried on from your own childhood? The big family dinner on Christmas Day.  As kids, we'd always go to my maternal Grandma's since they were only a short drive away.  And on Christmas Day all the family would come in and we'd fill up Grandmas house and have tons of food.  Now that we are on our own so to say, we still have the big family dinner, but now we have our military family and single sailors that come over.  They are all just as much family to us as our blood family.

7. Where would you go for a Christmas-away-from-home trip?  Honestly, probably to see my husbands family in Illinois.  we haven't been home to their house for a Christmas in many years and I know how much he would enjoy getting to see his Parents and Grandparents not to mention I'm sure how much they would like to see their Grand and Great Grandchildren.

8. Check out GameStop  and tell us, what are the three top items on your GameStop Wish List this year?  The MOVE sports Champions bundle and the Kinect Fitness bundle are both big for us this year and our house wouldn't be quite complete without Little Big Planet 2.

Ahhh procrastination

In all reality, what started in March should have been a good idea.  Ideal for my life and its activity, not so much.  While yes I do take pictures almost everyday, sometimes those pictures can sit on the camera for days, weeks, or months.  Found that out as I pulled my cute little pink camera out of my purse last month and discovered pictures from my brothers wedding.  Yeah the one back in April.

So since being here on the island (oh yeah, we moved again back out to Oahu) I have been better about taking pictures and pulling them off the camera.  Processing and developing are another story, but they are at least on the computer.  And now I have even more reason to get those pictures done.

I finally got my act together and decided that this was the year that we were going to do the kids Christmas pictures AND send out Christmas cards.  Cards that we have neglected to send out for the last couple of years due to either moving right near Christmas or just having too much going on during the busy season.   So with the boys out camping at Bellows Beach, it was the perfect weekend to meet them out there with the girls and have a quick Christmas card photo session.  75 shots later,  I had some antsy, not wanting their picture taken anymore children and a handful of workable shots.  Little did I know, the hard part would be picking the Christmas cards in which to showcase the picture.

The solution (and then some!) came by way of a blog post from one of my daily blog hoppings.  Bloggers get 50 free holiday cards from Shutterfly… sign up:   How perfect!!  Scooted on over to Shutterfly and found these Christmas Cards:

and this:
How cute is this one?

Like I said, this is the hard part.  Now I have to choose from over 700 designs to decide which one is going to work with the kids pictures.  And since I was over there peeking around, I decided to look through their other cute things on the webpage and now I'm going to order a canvas like this one
to put the same picture up on the wall.  Okay so not that picture, since I don't know them.  Do you?  And I even created some coffee photo mugs to send out to the grandparents for Christmas presents just like these:
One stop shopping for Christmas and I didn't even have to leave the house!  Huge win-win in my house :)  Having used Shutterfly before and loving the products, I know the quality is fantastic and I will be completely happy with my choices.

So what are you waiting for??  Run on over to shutterfly and get your Holiday cards going too!!  And if you are a blogger, don't forget to check out this linky:  Bloggers get 50 free holiday cards from Shutterfly… sign up:

Morning Reminder

Sadly this a gentle reminder to myself this morning that I couldn't have coffee.  I had a doctors appointment that I had to fast for and so sniff sniff, no coffee for me!

New beginning!

So after having let this blog sit for oh so very long and after finally getting to watch Julie and Julia, I finally realized last night what I wanted to do with it.  What started out as wanting to chronicle what goes on with our lives on a day to day basis, I realized that life around here isn't always all that exciting.  Sad, but true.  I do take at least one picture a day though.  Whether it be with my baby, Steve's baby (which is on a lease to own program at the moment), the point and shoots or my cellphone, I take at least one pic a day.  This is also why my photo hard drive is 75% fuller then the rest of the drives.  But then they all sit, nothing being done with them.  Occasionally I will add some to facebook, but for the most part, they are only seen by my eyes.  Here's where the change comes.  Everyday for the next year (and most likely/hopefully longer), I am going to post my photo of the day.  Today we'll actually have two pictures:

This is the incredible sunset we had last night after all the rain.  The picture really does not do it justice.

And this is Gwendelyn after getting her award this morning for being respectful to her classmates.  She was so happy to be up there with everyone.
So now we'll see where this project goes.  I am horrible at finishing what I've started, but this is something I hope I will make to the finish line.  Wish me luck!!
