*tap tap* Is this thing on??

So yes I have been seriously lacking in the blogging department.  While there is always tons of activity in my house, putting pen to paper or in this case, fingers to keys to gather my thoughts hasn't been easy.  But today in my meandering about the blogs of the world, I came across Todays Mamas giveaway.  And this Mama most definately loves a giveaway especially with what all is in the package.  Hey its worth a shot right??  So here goes:

Mama’s Holiday Wish List Meme
TodaysMama and Provo Craft are giving away a sleighful of gifts this holiday season and to enter I’m sharing this meme with you.

1. What 5 items are on your holiday wish list this year?
Alien bees Digibee package in pink but of course
Some new lenses including this one, isn't she pretty!!
a clean organized house that stays that way for more then a couple hours
new tires for my truck (gotta have something practical on my list lol)
For Mom and Doug to not have to worry about money and jobs this year

2. What is your favorite handmade gift you have received?
All the dolls my grandmother made for me when I was a kid.  I still have most of them and love seeing my girls dressing them up and playing with thm now.

3. What handmade gift have you always wanted to tackle?
a Christmas quilt.  Never have had the time though

4. What was the best Christmas gift you received as a child?
that would probably have to be my New Kids on the Block Christmas lol. So sad...

5. What items are on your kid’s wish list this year?
Chelsea wants the Edward and Bella Barbie dolls (check)
Colby wants anything Lego (check)
Gwen wants an ipod (hmm still working on that one)

6. What is your favorite holiday food?
Hands down, checkerboard cookies.  So easy to make throughout the year, but still they only get made at Christmas time in my house

7. What will you be hand-crafting for the holidays?
Well now I can't tell you all of that cause alot of what I have been doing have been gifts for other people.  Cutest so far has been the handprint snowman ornaments that I will get pictures of later and put on here.  And I've decided that I am offcially insane and decided that the kids really need their Daddy quilts made with Steve going out to sea so much.  Really excited to get those done though.

8. What is your favorite holiday movie?
Home for the Holiday.  Not a traditional holiday movie by any standard, but one that Katie and I have watched every year, numerous times every year since it came out.

9. Favorite holiday song?
I'll be home for Christmas-Bing Crosby.  (And this year we actually are)
The Best Gift- Barbra Streisand (reminds me of Christmases when I was little)
Ave Maria- Josh Groban (he could sing the alphabet to me and I'd swoon)

10. Favorite holiday pastime?
Its a tie between just being at home, Christmas music on, baking the day away in the kitchen with the monsters.  Or jammies on, hopping in the car and driving around looking at all the Christmas lights.  I love hearing the "Ooohs" and "Ahhhs" and the "didja see that one?!?!" from the backseats.

So there it is.  My Holiday wish list.  And a renewed sense of get stuff on your blog Chris.  I really have so much that I need to get on here, including a not so beautiful, but tastes amazing loaf of bread I made yesterday.  With my own two hands.  That says alot right there doesn't it??

Till next time,

And so begins again..

It's really my own fault. I get these ideas in my head and one leads to another. Four hours later, I still find myself sitting at the computer, 15 tabs open in firefox with a different craft webpage/cooking site/who knows what open on each, and not a thing done in the house. It starts with one blog, which will lead to another and another and you get the idea. Well I've always been the crafty sort and love the country look, but out here in San Diego, there aren't too many places that cater to that sort of decor. It all began with one little burnt out candle bulb. I knew it had to be an easy thing to make so I google it. "How to make silicone dipped bulbs" and a whole new world open.

I learned how to make not only regular silicone dipped bulbs, but grungy scented ones too. I learned how to properly distress and grunge wood. Prim, country, shabby chic.. so much information it began to make my head spin. And in the end, it brings me back to this. My poor little lonely blog that I began when my babies were still relatively babies and just beginning their very short lived time at preschool before we moved to Washington State and there was no school for them.

We are now in San Diego and everyone is in school full time. Gwen just started fifth grade and is hopefully beginning to realize what an important year this is for her. She was accepted into the safety patrol and she's hoping to get to play flute, clarinet or possibly the viola again. The twins both started Kindergarten, each with a different teacher, but classrooms only seperated by a filing cabinet. I wondered how seperating them would go seeing as they have done nothing without the other for their entire lives. But it really has given them a chance to blossom into their own and make their own friends.

And Steve and I are still Steve and I. Working through the everyday, making sure everyone is happy and healthy. Steve's still on the San Fran (again!) and we're waiting very impatiently for our orders. We are hoping that Hawaii pulls through and praying that Virginia does not. So please keep your fingers crossed.

Well I am off and running. Kids just got home from school, so there are backpacks to go through and dinner to be planned. Hope this finds everyone well!!
